ISLAND LIFE IN LOMBOK
Our travels around Bali continued with our next stop to the Gili Islands! It was an hour and a half taxi ride from Seminyak to Padangbai, then an hour and a half boat ride to Gili T. We arrived on Gili T like we were fresh off the boat, then we took a 5-minute boat ride where our hotel was on Gili Meno called the Mahamaya. There weren’t any docks, so we just jumped right into the sea to get off the boat! We started our stay here with a lovely lunch at the hotel, followed by some drinks at the Eskimo Bar. We headed back for happy hour drinks at Mahamaya where we watched the sunset. Dinner that night was at a beachfront restaurant down the road just a short walk away. The food was great and we had a big section to chose from, anything you wanted they had on the menu.
We woke up bright and early the next morning to film a workout video, followed by breakfast at the hotel. The Mahamaya provides bikes, as there are no cars on the island. People get around by walking, biking, or taking a horse and cart. The Mahamaya also provides snorkeling gear, which we took advantage of as you can go right in from the beach and see fish. We also went with Gili Divers for a diving and snorkeling trip that is only a 7 minute drive into the ocean. The water was so warm and there was no need for a wetsuit so for me this was the most enjoyable snorkeling trip to date. That evening we took advantage of golden hour, filmed a video on how to be successful and then met with some friends at Mahamaya for dinner.
Snorkeling in Gili Meno
We were up early again the next morning to capture the best lighting and sound for another workout. You are going to LOVE the quality of these new workouts We had breakfast, and took the bikes to Karma Beach Club to meet with our friends, Becky and Ryan. Becky is behind the social media blog We Are Travel Girls, and Ryan is a friend of Cory who is also an Instagram boyfriend. Haha! Karma Beach Club has prosecco cocktails (my favorite) along with a rockless ocean that is so blue it made the perfect combination. Don't miss the behind the scenes photo shoot on the vlog, it will get you laughing! We cycled around the whole island (partly because we were lost!) and had dinner at a beachfront restaurant with live music. We saw the best sunset while reclining on the bean bags laying in the sand. All of the bean bags I'm finding in Asia are telling me that I need to have one in my new home!
Double act with my British Instagramer!
Of course we filmed two stellar workouts at the Mahamaya for you all! It's the Summer Body workout, which is a total head-to-toe burner! We also have one more coming for you so make sure you are Subscribed so you get the notification when it's out! On the set we didn't have Alphie, but we had the next best thing...an orange tabby cat that kept meowing during the video! We kept it in and I think it adds a fun touch to the workout. Don't take yourself too seriously!
Beaches in Gili Meno
The Gili Islands is such lovely, relaxing place with so many photo ops. There is no blue ocean like here in all of Bali so if you are looking for white sandy beaches and clear water you need to pop over to Lombok Gili Islands. There are three Gili Islands in total with Gili Meno being the most laid back and beautiful. Gili T has more of a nightlife with more action. I had so much fun on the swings at the bar down the road and when we were there we had the whole place to ourselves.
There are lots of little beach bars that have a very chilled out vibe. There was one milkshake called 'Happy Juice,' which will give you quite a trip! That activity was not for us, but a trip that we did take was to go snorkeling. Lots of marine life and colorful fish under the sea in the Gili Islands. After that it was time for some romantic time on the sand to watch the Bali sunset. I think this is the place where we've seen the brightest sunset ever! What's the best sunset you've ever seen?
