Our self guided tour around the Maldives continued with what we thought was going to be a short boat trip from Finolhu island to Coco Bodu Hithi. Well it turns out we had misinterpreted the proximity of the two islands and back to a domestic flight it was followed by another boat ride.
We were itching with excitement for our stay at Coco Bodu Hithi because we had 4 full days which would allow us to really unpack, get our work done and take some Rebecca and Cory time. The hotel had booked us one night in there ocean pool villa followed by 3 nights on the island jungle villa. It's good they have a variety of rooms to offer but we prefer the ocean villas because they're best for filming, they have the best view, can snorkel straight from the room, don't feel congested and makes you feel like you're actually in the Maldives.
We were welcomed as always with drinks and a friendly staff. The hotel looked a bit tired after the last few we had stayed at. It didn't have the same flair or edge on first impression as some of the others. We had lunch at Air restaurant which was a la carte. The menu was fairly basic with no real health or wellness option but we still made the best choices we could as always. Be aware that water is billable at $10 usd a bottle even when on a full board meal plan at the resort. If you drink 6-8 glasses a day as your body needs this can get pretty costly!
Our ocean pool villa had an unreal view, great snorkeling, and a spacious living room, bathroom, outdoor deck and of course a pool sitting above the Indian Ocean. The design and colors of the room were forgettable but the view and location were second to none. We took advantage and filmed a couple of workouts that I can't wait to share with you.
Dinner our first night was at the resort buffet. The theme was Tex Mex and if there's one thing I could do without in life it would be buffets! Especially ones with cold food and minimal healthy options. Dinner is usually our time to unwind after running around taking pics, filming workouts, shooting blogs and other work, etc so buffets just don't allow us to fully relax and enjoy each other's company after long work days.
After moving out of the ocean villa we got to explore one of the islands best features - the ocean reef snorkeling. It was packed with life ranging from fish of every shape and color, turtles, huge rays and even sharks! Every lap we took in the water was different in the ever changing environment of the Indian Ocean.
Our dinner situation at the resort improved greatly with some a la carte menus ranging at venues on the sand at the waters edge, to overlooking the reef we snorkeled on to a beautiful setting under the stars on the open water. We were quite impressed with the variety offered.
The spa at Coco Bodu Hithi was top notch. This was the first above water spa we had seen similar to the bungalows. Instead of the signature massage we opted for a pair of facials that happened to be Cory's first which you can see in the vlog. I was much in need as from the constant exposure to the sun, sweat, makeup and sunscreen. Cory later went for a scuba dive with the dive shop and I stayed behind, as you know I have trouble with clearing my ears while diving. I took the opportunity to stay back, enjoy the peace and quiet and catch up on some reading and have some Rebecca time.
Before we knew it 4 days blasted by like a rocket. We knocked out another 6 unreal workouts and loads of pictures as well. We have become a well oiled production team of 2. We hope we can inspire and motivate all of you to obtain your fitness goals with the content filmed on the opposite side of the planet.
The weather made a complete 180 degree change from our arrival over a week ago. The days have been warm with a few clouds floating through and little to no breeze often making the ocean look still as a lake. The hype of the Maldives beauty has defiantly lived up to every bit of it.
Time to move on to the next destination!
