It can be hard getting motivated to get up and exercise… and it's even harder to do when there is snow on the ground and its freezing outside!
I have seen a lot of you talking about all the snow you are getting right now. I want you to know I am thinking of you and hoping you are able to stay warm and safe during these times. The winter is a time when a lot of us are pretty much confined to our homes and it can be easy to push exercising off. So how do you turn the TV off, get off the couch and get moving?!
First things first, get warmed up! When your body is cold, all you want to do is stay under the blanket and sit next to the fire. To kick start your motivation, warm up that body by enjoying some hot lemon water or hot tea. This will get you warmed up from the inside out and you'll be able to toss that blanket to the side and get your booty movin'!
What's next? You guessed it, A DANCE PARTY! This is the perfect warm up and a great way to start engaging your muscles, plus ITS FUN! There is no way you can be in a bad mood or unmotivated when you put on your favorite song and dance like no one is watching.
I've come up with some tips for you to stay motivated during the cold winter months. Check it out below!
Stay Motivated By Setting Intentions
To help stay motivated when its cold outside, it is important to set your intentions. Write these down so that you can revisit them throughout the week; this will keep you on track! What is it that you want this year for yourself, but also your friends and family? Look at that vision and expand it. Don't be afraid to make it big! The only limitations are the ones you put up in your mind! Setting goals for spring time may seem far off, but it will be here before you know it. By having set these goals, you will be working towards something during the entire winter.
Stay Motivated By Finding An Accountability Partner

Stay Motivated By Adding Exercise Accessories

If you find yourself becoming bored with your inside workout, it's important to spice up your workout by adding dumbbells, kettle balls, sliders, or resistance bands. These will amplify muscle tone without you having to brave the cold. I love the extra challenge of trying out exercise move variations with accessories, and resistance bands are my favorite!
Resistance bands are amazing for a few different reasons. They are able to be used by everyone and absolutely anywhere. You can get creative with resistance bands and really learn what it feels like to target specific muscle groups. Enhance your stretching practice or amp up your regular exercises - different grades of band thickness provide varying levels of difficulty, so you can add extra challenge to a workout routine no matter what the focus is. Want to add some resistance bands into your routine? Check out the BTES Resistance Bands in my shop!
Stay Motivated By Finding Alternative Activities
Just because it's cold outside, doesn't mean you can only workout inside. There are plenty of different activities you can participate in that get your heart rate up and qualify as a good workout! Ice skating, hockey, skiing/snowboarding, and snowshoeing will keep your legs toned. Dragging a sled uphill will give you a good arm workout with some cardio mixed in. When it comes to arm exercises, building a snowman, making a fort, and having a snowball fight can really get your muscles moving.
This is also a great opportunity to bond with your kids and family. Including them in your workouts will make time go by faster and you'll be creating memories along the way.
Stay Motivated By Wearing Cute Workout Gear
We all know we love to buy new workout clothes. I am going through some of my outfits this week to clear some out, but I could always use more! A new outfit is super motivating and will give you that extra little push once you put it on and are feeling yourself. When you look good, you feel good and when you feel good you are more motivated to hit your goals and feel your results! Check out my shop for some form fitting, body sliming workout gear!
Summer workout clothes get a lot of attention but there are super cute options for winter! You've got the matching hat and gloves combo. Vests and even thicker leggings you can buy. It is all about the layers in the winter. It is important to layer up which will help warm up your muscles outside. You can always take a layer off if you get too hot.
I hope these tips help you stay motivated for the rest of the winter. Stay safe and stay warm.
Love you lots,
Rebecca
